Pregnancy is a wonderful process full of miracles. It has 3 stages and usually lasts up to 40 weeks. Who would ever think that you had a tail and looked like a tadpole when you were a week old in your mum’s tummy? Or that you were as heavy as a cantaloupe when you were 35 weeks old. Always remember that a child develops differently in the womb and outside the womb. Knowing your child’s development and reading about the different stages of development during pregnancy week by week will help you and your baby tremendously.
The first trimester is from week one to twelve. You may feel that you can’t eat properly because almost everything you take in you also bring out. Even brushing your teeth seems to be a burden. However for some women, they act as if nothing is happening inside of them. Dizziness and nausea during the first few weeks of pregnancy is perfectly normal. This may be minimized if by eating plenty of fruits or drinking fresh homemade fruit shakes can do the trick. Right now, you’re probably wondering why you always feel hungry but you can’t seem to find exactly what you want to eat. Eating in small amounts every few hours is what you should do. Gaining weight gradually is better as opposed to gaining weight rapidly. This is to prevent you and your baby safe from some pregnancy risks such as high blood pressure, hyperglycemia, anemia, and more. As soon as you get pregnant, consult with your doctor so that they would be able to guide you during your pregnancy week by week. They would be giving you vitamins and other supplements to help your baby grow healthier.
Weeks thirteen to twenty four is the second trimester. Nausea and dizziness would have disappeared. Your emotions and sensitivity rate though, seems to be at the highest point right now. This is because of your hormonal change. Physical change is also obvious by now. You would be gaining weight and you will be able to determine your baby’s gender by the end of this stage. Dreaming about your baby is normal also at this stage. Trips to the doctor would be a little more frequent at this time, usually once a month or a few times a month to monitor your pregnancy week by week. By now you are probably thinking of wearing loose clothing or maternity dresses. This is up to you if you want to buy maternity clothes. Your baby is growing pretty fast inside you and your belly is expanding, so set aside what you are wearing right now. If you get the chance to borrow maternity clothing, that would be even better. You wouldn’t want to spend a few hundreds on clothing that you won’t be able to use 9 months later right?
When you are on your third trimester, this is actually the last part. This is from week twenty four to forty. Bathroom trips would be a little more often then usual. For some women pregnancy may be difficult. Some have no difficulty at all and are overly excited about their new family member. Sometimes women may give birth during the thirty seventh weeks or even thirty sixth weeks. This is considered full term pregnancy and the baby in your womb is fully developed. The baby can weigh up to four pounds and be as long as sixteen inches. Expect the baby to arrive two weeks before or two weeks after your expected due date.
Pregnancy brings mixed feelings for women. There is a feeling of joy, fear, and nervousness at the same time. So long as you are guided well, then you and your baby should be perfectly healthy. Keeping a diary is also great so that you can note down your baby’s development and other important information provided by your doctor week by week.
